Grease & Oil Takeback
South Platte Renew invites community members to participate in the Grease & Oil Takeback event. Residents can bring used cooking grease and automotive oil for safe, easy, free disposal. The event helps protect home plumbing and vital water treatment infrastructure through responsible disposal of grease and oil. This initiative makes a significant difference for the community and environment.
By preventing grease and oil from entering wastewater systems, residents help protect home plumbing, reduce sewer overflow risks, and support environmental health.
What You Can Bring:
- Used cooking grease and oils (liquid form, free of food debris)
- Used automotive oil (free from contaminants like fuel, solvents, or water)
- Up to 10 gallons per household
Why Participate? By properly disposing of grease and oil, you're helping prevent costly plumbing repairs, protecting our community's sewer infrastructure, and safeguarding our environment from harmful contamination. When these materials are poured down drains, they can create severe blockages and “fatbergs” that threaten both home plumbing and public wastewater systems.
Join us in making a positive impact on our community's infrastructure and environmental health. Every drop properly disposed of helps protect our vital water resources!
Important Notes:
- This free service is available to all residents within the South Platte Renew service area
- Please keep cooking grease and automotive oil in separate containers
- Materials from commercial businesses, oil filters, antifreeze, or other chemicals will not be accepted
